The company’s Townsville Energy Chemicals Hub (TECH) project is establishing itself as a leader in sustainable nickel production with a minimal environmental footprint, as there are no tailings dams, no discharge of process fluids.
Negative CO2 Emissions
The TECH Project is calculated to be negative 989,213 tonnes CO2-e per annum, equivalent to approximately 215,000 typical passenger vehicles. Read more at the Carbon Abatement Hub page.
Zero Solids Waste
Testwork indicating the suitability of TECH Project residue for repurpose as engineered fill opens up the exciting possibility of finding commercially viable uses for this waste stream. The ability to utilise this residue as an engineered fill would mean that 100% of the ore processed by the TECH Project reports to a commercial application, effectively positioning the TECH Project as zero solids waste.
